Le Meritoire c1884

Half plate size. Brass lens with rack and pinion focusing. Lancaster introduced Le Meritoire in 1882 . The body of the camera attaches to a separate baseboard, either horizontaly or vertically and the lens pane is secured with hand screws projecting from the underside. The diagonal strut holds the back rigid.

By 1886 the design have been modified with a more conventional pull-out and clamp lens panel with rack adjustment. 
This example is a 1/4 plate model.
